Ho riguardato il giro 67 alla ripartenza alla ripartenza dopo la safety car.

Bottas riesce ad avvicinarsi tantissimo a Ricciardo nei primi 100 metri di inizio rettilineo. È impressionante il cambio di velocità.

Mark Hughes: The Mercedes is a visibly more softly sprung car than the others, (something confirmed by the wheel-top analysis of other teams, where in-car footage is analysed and the position of the wheel tops relative to the chassis is measured as speeds rise) because it has a nicely benign aero platform (ie the downforce remains consistent through a range of ride heights, roll, pitch etc). But around such a slow circuit as this, with lots of steering lock, its too much and needs some support from the tyre. Which is why the Mercedes doesnt pick up as much lap time as the Ferrari from lower pressures and why Pirellis reduction in the stipulated minimum a few days before the event (to 17 front/16.5 psi rear, down from a 19 front/18 rear) was good news for Ferrari. A stiffer set-up on the long wheelbase Mercedes (now without the sophistication of the hydraulic heave spring, banned on the eve of the season) just brings with it too slow a weight transfer, locking fronts and understeer.

 

So Mercedes tried a major set-up change between first and second practices that proved disastrous, before moving back to a more conventional arrangement from Saturday onwards, but still it needed the multiple slow preparation laps and was a handful through Casino, Tabac and the swimming pool section (with its flat-in-sixth entry), edgy and nervous between understeer and oversteer, poor traction as it rolled too much. Lewis Hamilton was all at sea with it, could make no sense of it at all. But Bottas just worked with what he had, chipped away at understanding where he could find time with it like this and put it all together magnificently on his final Q3 run, using its formidable grunt to go quickest in sector one, limiting the damage as best he could through the middle sector (he was heart-in-mouth dramatic through the swimming pool section all weekend) and then nailing the throttle outrageously early out of Rascasse, running hard up against the barrier there, before skimming along the inside barrier of the old pitlane to minimise the distance to the timing beam. It was arguably the qualifying lap of the season so far.

Che le megamofiche fossero solo estetiche, lo avevano capito anche i sassi.

Non so, ma sembrano un po la ferrari degli anni scorsi, tante modifiche, ma macchina che non se ne accorge.

Vedremo, hanno mezzi infiniti rispetto agli altri, prima o poi troveranno un rimedio.

O forse perché non puoi portare alcun aggiornamento sulla macchina

Non vorrei sbagliare, ma in questi film, la macchina deve essere la stessa dell'ultimo gp, perche se è vero che è conformazione vecchia, è altrettanto vero che in questo modo potresti comunque fare delle comparazioni con i dati di quella nuova. Ma anche qui, si sfrutta una falla del regolamento, che dice che non puoi portare nulla di nuovo, ed effettivamente di nuovo non c'e nulla, ma se ti servivano dei dati per una comparazione, ecco che li hai...

"We are struggling with the rear stability and when the rear's not stable we are not putting energy through the fronts either because the fronts are not sliding. But when the rear's stable, the fronts are understeering slightly and that puts more temperature in the fronts.

Un po' mi sorprende perché Toto (mafie a parte) è sempre stato uno molto sportivo ad ammettere la sconfitta. Non vorrei che la dichiarazione sia stata male interpretata, bisognerebbe vedere il video come lo dice.

 

Sicuramente sul tema gomme hanno poco da lamentarsi.
