Vettel covered 169 laps – the most of any driver – and led the times with a best lap which was almost a second quicker than the next driver on the same tyre.

“The car was working really well, we had no issues slowing us down,” said Vettel. “We actually completed the program just the way we wanted. And we’re able to squeeze a little bit more out even.”

Vettel had already driven the car once in a filming event yesterday at the track. “The first impressions yesterday already were very good and strong and the same today.

“So it seems that the car is working. I feel comfortable. Obviously I’m still a bit rusty because I haven’t driven for a couple of months. But [it’s] getting better, I certainly got enough laps today, I’ll sleep well tonight. The car’s working well, I’m very happy it’s doing what I want. So I’m very pleased at the moment.”

However Vettel stressed he was keen not to get carried away with his first impressions.

“Obviously it’s very early, the first day and it’s meaningless in a couple of weeks. But for now I think huge compliments to everyone back in the factory. How they tackled the the new rules and regulations and what they put on track today is very close to perfection in the first day of driving.

“The amount of laps that we did how the team was handling the car and obviously everything is more on the edge compared to last year car and tight and so on, what you’d imagine but as I said no no major dramas. So from that point of view we were very, very well prepared.”

Ragazzi è il primo giorno.

Ogni squadra fa qualsiasi tipo di lavoro, che può essere diverso per squadra.

Chi prova una cosa, chi un'altra e chi un'altra ancora...I test sono indefinibili per confrontare i tempi.

L'importante è che la Ferrari sia affidabile.

Nei prossimi giorni, quando proveranno davvero le prestazioni  e la velocità pura forse capiremo qualcosa...forse.

Sarebbe da fare un paragone tra run con uguali mescole e giri simili. Anche se non sarà mai accurato al 100%

"Non avremmo potuto sperare in una giornata migliore", ha detto Vettel a RaceFans e altri media al Circuit de Catalunya. "Penso che sia stato incredibile."

Vettel ha percorso 169 giri - la maggior parte di tutti i piloti - e ha guidato i tempi con un miglior giro che è stato quasi un secondo più veloce del pilota successivo sullo stesso pneumatico.

"La macchina stava funzionando molto bene, non abbiamo avuto problemi a rallentare," ha detto Vettel. "Realmente abbiamo completato il programma proprio come volevamo. E siamo anche in grado di spremere un po 'di più. "

Vettel aveva già guidato la macchina una volta in un evento di riprese ieri in pista. "Le prime impressioni di ieri erano già molto buone e forti e lo stesso oggi.

"Quindi sembra che la macchina stia funzionando. Mi sento comodo. Ovviamente sono ancora un po 'arrugginito perché non ho guidato per un paio di mesi. Ma [sta migliorando], ho avuto certamente abbastanza giri oggi, dormirò bene stasera. La macchina funziona bene, sono molto felice che stia facendo quello che voglio. Quindi sono molto contento al momento. "

Tuttavia, Vettel ha sottolineato che era desideroso di non lasciarsi trasportare dalle sue prime impressioni.

"Ovviamente è molto presto, il primo giorno e non ha senso in un paio di settimane. Ma per ora penso a grandi complimenti per tutti in fabbrica. Come hanno affrontato le nuove regole e regolamenti e cosa hanno messo in pista oggi è molto vicino alla perfezione nel primo giorno di guida.

"Il numero di giri che abbiamo fatto è stato il modo in cui la squadra ha gestito la macchina e ovviamente tutto è più in bilico rispetto alla macchina dell'anno scorso e stretto e così via, cosa si potrebbe immaginare, ma come ho detto di no nessun drammi importanti. Quindi da quel punto di vista eravamo molto, molto ben preparati. "

Si però Sebastian dovrebbe dosare un po le parole.

Dopo il 2018 io non metterei troppa aspettative ai tifosi...sopratutto se commenterà ancora degli errori.

La settimana prossima si girerà tranquillamente sul 1:16 forse pure 1:15, gli 1:18 di oggi non contano niente.

infatti stiamo commentando delle primissime impressioni sull'handling della vettura, e sui commenti in questo caso di Vettel.

Aldilà dei tempi che valgono molto poco (anche se essere lì sopra non dispiace certo) l'importante è aver fatto tutti quei giri senza batter ciglio...e poi soprattutto a me oggi la macchina ha fatto impressione per quanto fosse stabile...abbinata a quella livrea sembrava per davvero una macchina da guerra 

Detto ciò credo la MB si sia nascosta e parecchio

Quello che dice Joseki è coerente.

Non dobbiamo lasciarci trasportare dai tempi di oggi.

Se nel.calcio in precampionato la nostra squadra del cuore vince 9-0 contro una modesta, sappiamo che è precampionato e quindi non andiamo su di testa.

Così dobbiamo fare dopo oggi.
