Ruberekus 12202 Inviato 19 Aprile, 2017 McLaren cannot explain why the engine problems that ruined its Bahrain Grand Prix did not reoccur during the second day of Formula 1's in-season test at the Sakhir circuit. After ongoing MGU-H problems marred its Bahrain Grand Prix weekend, and the first day of testing on Tuesday, the F1 team was unsure what to expect on the final day of running on Wednesday. Stoffel Vandoorne completed a full testing programme without engine problems, setting the fourth best time overall and completing 81 laps. But with Honda having made no modifications to the specification that hit trouble after just two installation laps on Tuesday, McLaren racing director Eric Boullier said he could not explain why things had improved so much overnight. "If we knew...this is the problem, I don't know," he said when asked about the turnaround. "Everything has worked perfectly. We are even actually pushing a little bit in terms of settings, trying to use the opportunity, and everything is working. "This is a proper test today, everything you plan you can test it and do back-to-back, so it's very good."

joseki 1011 Inviato 20 Aprile, 2017 Comunque nel report del team c'è scritto tutt'altro: SATOSHI NAKAMURA, Honda R&D Co. Ltd Principal Engineer “Despite having a disappointing first day of testing yesterday, today we were able to conduct our plan in accordance with the original schedule and completed 81 laps of useful running. “After facing MGUH issues during the Bahrain Grand Prix, we made concerted efforts to analyse the issue in a short period of time ahead of this test. “Based on this analysis, we implemented provisional countermeasures against the issue on our PU and we think we were able to confirm the direction of our solution with today’s running. We also made some progress today with the set-up of our PU in order to acquire better driveability and reduce the vibration. “I want to thank all the members of the McLaren-Honda team who worked tirelessly throughout the days and nights to prepare for the test, even after the tough grand prix we had here in Bahrain. “Although we are still in behind our competitors in terms of performance, we are confident that we’re heading in the right direction. We believe our PU still has more potential and we will continue our development utilising all of the information we have gathered from this test in order to close the gap to our competitors as soon as possible. “We have less than 10 days to go before the Russian Grand Prix, and we are expecting another tough race there. However, we will keep fighting hard together with McLaren in order to move forward.”

The FIA's engine chief Fabrice Lom said at the Spanish Grand Prix last year: "We check every car of every lap of the first three races, we take the best of each power unit for each race, and then we do the average. "That should give a power unit index of performance for each power unit manufacturer. "Then we have a translation of this index for the Barcelona track, and this is what we will do. "We transform this index to lap time and check the difference in lap time to the Barcelona track."
