Secondo Autoracer Shell è convinta di avere un vantaggio tecnologico rispetto ad Aramco o Petronas sui biocarburanti, e sono andati decisi su questa strada. Cosa comporterà non so e non si sbilanciano neanche loro, ma è un fattore importante per il rendimento della PU. Dicono anche Ferrari ha notato una certa variabilità di prestazione al variare dei lotti testati al banco, cosa che ha preoccupato. Si passava da lotti con prestazioni eccellenti ad altri molto meno performanti, ma ci avrebbero messo una pezza. Per tutti comunque la "costanza" nella miscela non è un fattore banale come si potrebbe pensare. Infine a quanto pare i costi nella stagione per questi nuovi carburanti saranno estremi, e pare che più di 1 team durante i test di Barcellona userà in parte ancora carburanti convenzionali, che quindi non potranno essere usati in stagione.
