Lorenzo Veglia will complete the Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s line up for the 2015 TCR International Series.

The 18-year old Italian will join team principal Franz Engstler and Russian racer Mikhail Grachev. Veglia is facing his third racing season, following a successful debut in the 2013 FIA European Touring Car Cup in which he was classified fourth in the Super 1600 class. Last year he raced in the SEAT León Eurocup, claiming podium results and finishing 12thin the final standings.

Liqui Moly Team Engstler team manager Kurt Treml declared: “We are very pleased to welcome Lorenzo in the team. He brings his youthful enthusiasm and in spite of his young age has already shown a promising potential. We are confident that he can mature and improve even further working together an experienced driver like Franz.”

“This is a big step forward in my still short racing career. I was lucky to begin with two years in European series and now I find myself a competitor in an intercontinental racing series at the age of 18. In this respect I am pleased to drive for the Liqui Moly Team Engstler, because the team and Franz Engstler have plenty of experience and I am sure I can learn a lot from them. I take this first season as an apprenticeship, but at the same time I am also aiming to claim some good results,” Veglia said.

The first Balance of Performance test for the 2015 TCR International Series took place at Barcelona’s Catalunya Circuit on Monday and Tuesday.

Nicola Larini was the driver in charge of evaluating the different cars and passing information and his personal driving impressions to the TCR International Series’ technical staff led by Technical Director Andreas Bellu and Technical Delegate Knut Wartenberg.

Larini drove stints in different set up configurations at the wheel of the SEAT León Racer, Honda Civic TCR and Opel Astra OPC.

The Ford Focus car, which was also expected to run in Barcelona, remained in the UK where Onyx Engineering will complete a shakedown later this week. The TCR technical staff will then evaluate its performance in a separate test, before the Ford is flown to Malaysia for the opening round of the International Series.

The Balance of Performance specifications will be finalized and made public in the coming days.

Campos con 2 Astra nelle prime 2 gare e poi 3 dalla terza. Primo pilota annunciato Igor Skuz.

Campos Racing confirmed today the programme for running Opel Astra OPC cars in the 2015 TCR International Series.

The Spanish team will enter two cars in the first two events of the season that will support the Formula 1 Grands Prix of Malaysia at Sepang and China at Shanghai. Campos Racing’s line up will expand to a third car from the first European race meeting that will take place at Valencia on May 3.
The first driver selected was Igor Skuz from Ukraine who was crowned twice a national champion in the Touring Light class (2011 and 2012). In the two latest seasons, Skuz took part with Campos Racing in the FIA European Touring Car Cup and in 2014 he managed to score two race wins and finish third in the Super 2000 TC2 Turbo class.
The names of Skuz’s team-mates will be announced later.

Team Principal Joan Orús said: “This is a new adventure for Campos Racing and we are very much looking forward to it, because we really believe that the TCR International Series represents a great opportunity for our team to further increase its reputation. We are also very pleased to retain Igor Skuz who has consistently improved since he switched to international competition with us three years ago.”

Marcello Lotti, CEO of WSC Ltd, added: “We are very pleased to welcome Campos Racing that is a very experienced team. The Astra OPC has clearly a great potential and we wish them the best success.”

Michel Nykjaer and Andrea Belicchi to Target Competition

Target Competition has signed drivers Michel Nykjaer and Andrea Belicchi for the inaugural 2015 TCR International Series.

The duo joins already confirmed driver Stefano Comini to drive the three SEAT Leóns of the team, completing their line-up for the 2015 season.

Nykjaer is a former double Danish Touring Car Champion and finished third in the 2013 Scandinavian Touring Car Championship, driving a Chevrolet Cruze. His most recent drive was in 2013 for Nika Racing in the FIA World Touring Car Championship where he scored three victories and was involved in the championship fight before ending the season prematurely due to budget issues.

Belicchi has previously driven single seaters, one-make championships and GT cars, claiming the 1998 Renault Spider Eurocup title and the 2002 Formula 3 Russia title. Last season saw the Italian racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship, finishing second overall in the Private Team Drivers Trophy.
